About The School: We are based in the Korean art of Tae Kwon Do. Tae Kwon
Do (hand foot art) was made an Olympic sport in 1988. Offering all levels of
competition from local & state to regional and national, up to  college, world wide
and all the way to the Olympics. If competition Tae Kwon Do is not for you we offer
self discipline, self control, positive mental attitude and a great workout. We work on
cardiovascular, speed,  agility, coordination ,balance and strength training. This is
achieved through stretching, drills and pliometrics. As a student advances so will the
martial arts training. From basic stances and striking techniques to throws and
finishing holds. You will have many ways of testing yourself, from belt testing to
mini-competition or achieving your own personal goals.
Outside the school: I have been married for 13 years, I have 3 boys who are
currently training and I had the honor of taking and coaching them at 2005,2006 and
2007 AAU Nationals Championships. I'm very active in many of the youth programs
in McHenry. I have coached 11 little league teams, 1 traveling team (8 year old) and
I'm currently coaching a fall ball team. I have also coached 3 Jr. Warrior basketball
teams. My wife and I teach Sunday school together and run the junior high youth
group at our church.
About Me: I'm very passionate about martial arts.  I can ramble on for hours about
different styles, old stories & legends.  I was raised by two martial arts family. My
father Les Key held the rank of black belt in 3 different styles (Judo, Karate and
aikido).  I still enjoy his stories of the old days of Masato Turmora (black belt hall of
fame member) to the stories of his karate instructor and old friends.  My second family
was the Visconti family. Master Sam Visconti is like a second father to me.  His son
Sammy is like a brother to me.  We were always off to one tournament or another.
We traveled, trained and hung-out together all the time.
I enjoy working with children, I began coaching because I strongly believe there is a
right and wrong way to coach.  I believe in giving it your all and having fun while doing
it.  Key's Martial Arts Academy is based on this philosophy.  Learn, give it a 110%
and have fun doing it.
